Liquid Matter

2022

Liquid Matter is a project that revolves around digital footwear and accessories design. During this project I experimented with ways of translating analog inspiration and materials into a digital working environment. I started working with inflatables to find structures and shapes that were interesting to work with in a digital environment.

After this experimentation phase I wanted to start producing products, all inspired by these experiments. I wanted to make mono material footwear, which I achieved by using different technologies inside the 3D-printing field. To model the shoes I used Rhinoceros in which I developed my own way of making for this project. Using 3D scanned lasts I free modelled the shoes. During this process I constantly stretch and push the digital material around until the point where organic shapes start forming. With this method I can create footwear and accessories that have extreme shapes but are still printable on consumer level 3D-printers. All the shoes are under 1KG of material including the supports, this ensures affordable consumer level TPU can be used for the prints.

To finish of the collection, 2 pairs of glasses were made with the same techniques and printed in resin and pet-g.
